The question of how much time one should invest in countering slander is of course a personal one, a question that I have been wrestling with for months. The return on such an investment is usually low, and if one values their autonomy, the residual risks can be high. But in light of the fact that both my family and I are now inundated with genuine queries (interestingly from some in UCG), and also in view of the fact that on multiple occasions I have been solicited and encouraged to give my ...

Dear Mr. Kubik:
It is disappointing that I am being drawn away from necessary preparation for the Day of Atonement and the Feast of Tabernacles to respond to the public message which you have disseminated on the Internet and among God's people. Based on the level of upset and division you are causing within the Body of Christ, you leave me with little choice but to personally respond to your false claims and set the record straight. This is an open letter, and it may be sha...

March 2011
Hello again friends,
Several people have asked follow-up question about my original letter explaining why I decided I could no longer continue in the United Church of God. Some of my reasons have been challenged, and I have been asked to give further evidence of what I stated.
I will attempt to sum up the challenges and the requests for further information I have received and respond to them in this letter. If I fail to respo...

Exactly what inflammatory things did Arnold Mendez post? His posts were very factual; facts about what was happening in Latin America. The facts sometimes contradicted inaccurate Council statements, but they were still facts. Are facts to be considered inflammatory simply because the Council doesn’t like them?
In spite of claims to the contrary, ministers were being asked to sign statements of support the Council and administration in their a...

Winter Family Weekend and Camps
We have been asked why the Church of God, a Worldwide Association has use of some of the facilities previously used by the United Church of God for the Winter Family Weekend and some of the camp facilities.
Before last year’s Winter Family Weekend began, the event coordinator, Mark Winner, notified the leadership of the United Church of God that he planned to leave that organiz...

From the time of my hiring by the United Church of God, IA in 1999 to my recent termination I have had the privilege of travelling extensively in Latin America to serve the people of God in that part of the world. I love the Latin American brethren, and have very much enjoyed my time with them. I tell them jokingly that, although I am Jewish and born in England, I think there may be some Latin blood in me. I feel very much at home in the Spanish-speaki...
